New Year's Eve Gala Concert at The Grand Theatre Blackpool

Sometimes you have to pinch yourself to see if you aren't dreaming, there are many benefits to being an events florist but not least is an opportunity such as this one. We were invited to decorate the stage and Royal Boxes for the New Years Gala Concert at The Grand, but we couldn't believe our luck when we were exquisitely entertained by The British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, as a rule our usual working back ground music is supplied by Radio Wave!
It seems our timing was perfect, our decorating coincided perfectly with their rehearsal and oh what a joy!
Robert from The Grand had specifically asked for traditional "Garlanded Festoon" decoration for the boxes, he wanted only the best, authentic Italian Smilax which is grown in Tuscany for just such a purpose, the Royal boxes looked regal and majestic and to be honest The Grand is simply perfect this kind of decor.

The Flowers on the stage were proportioned perfectly, we didn't want them to divert anyones attention away from the performers moreover to enhance the visual spectacle.

I used a selection of Oriental, Arum & Calla Lily together with some winter Hydrangea and Euphorbia Fulgens, I allowed some soft trails of ivy to tumble from the stage.

The Grand Theatre is one of the hidden gems in the crown of Blackpool, the architecture and interior decor are just beautiful. The car park is so well lit and safe by BHS that there are no worries about parking, Jason and I find ourselves there on many an evening, it is one of the best nights out on The Fylde, we always check what's on in the Lawrence House studio, we've seen some absolutely brilliant pieces of work in the intimate surroundings of the studio.

The New Years Eve event is one of the most magical evenings in the Grand Theatre calendar the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and guest soloists take to the stage.
The Conductor was Fraser Goulding and Compère Mark Langley with Guest Soloists Jeremy Peaker, Louise Crane, Andrew Forbes Lane and Jeni Bern
They Performed a selection of memorable pieces including:Sleeping Beauty Waltz, The Snowball Overture, Pink PantherThe Student Prince, Time To Say Goodbye, Three Little Maids,Stars and Stripes, Auld Lang Syne and Can Can.

My New Years resolution is to get a bit more culture in our lives, a bit more art, theatre, books and so on, The Fylde is a wash with opportunity for just such a resolution we probably aren't ever going to be voted as a cultural capital but we are so much better than we it's inhabitants believe.
