Wendy & Nick's "Midsummer Nights Dream" Wedding Day at Hoghton Tower

Wendy and Nick's wedding at Hoghton Tower was quite simply magical from start to finish
Wendy wore a gown by Caroline Castigliano two-piece in ivory; a lace, butterfly bodice with an ‘A’ line Duchess satin skirt, and a lace bolero jacket over the top it was gorgeous The bouquet we created for Wendy was in a “Flower Design” hand tied style with A variety of antique Roses, lisianthus, sweet peas, Stephanotis, tiny proteas and Orchids and beautiful Lily of the Valley The bouquet was finished with some of the roses studded with a tiny diamante pins and a cream tulle handle.

The banqueting hall at Hoghton Tower is one of the most magical spaces, it's steeped in history and this is where we started with our thoughts and inspirations of Wendy & Nick's wedding day...
The oral tradition that William Shakespeare spent some time with the family (1580 - 81) is now gathering momentum: more and more documents seem to confirm it and the house is becoming the centre of attention for academics worldwide.’ A quotation about the historical background of the tower. Taking into account the history of your chosen venue, we felt that there was an awful lot of vintage romanticism to be derived from it. We brainstormed ideas about its Shakespearian heritage and concluded that there is so much value and details that are perfect for your day. We have focussed on the play ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’, taking into account the beautiful scenery of the location, the magical colours and the romance of its plot. We also felt that it would fit in with your dislike of anything too big and tall, we could utilise this to add to the fairy-like ambiance of the occasion. The beauty of it will create the magic and the duskiness of the pink will give off ideas of the twilight. The historical nature of the building bursts with mystery and is the perfect background for this idea
As a result we created designs that didn't detract from the drama of the space instead they enhanced the decor, lightening the spirit and adding a little touch of fairy dust and feminity to an otherwise masculine hall.
Each lady was presented with her own cream Rose

I used Peonies, Cezanne Roses, Astrantia, Dill, Bupleurum & Lissianthus in the table designs

For the taller designs we decided on Candelabras

The top table design is reminiscent of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon

The tables themselves were named after Spanish Cities and gentlemen were given gifts of Spanish Brandy in recognition of the Wendy's Spanish heritage
I used floor standing candelabras around the room, to add to the Elizabethan feel

Olivia handed out the fresh rose petals, people are always so delighted to handle them
The Bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the Wendy's Bouquet

Floor standing Candelabra
The cake was made by the Bride's Mum and decorated with fresh flowers

Hoghton Tower really is a splendid venue for a wedding, it has a very special quality seldom found elsewhere..."Magic"
