Quite simply this is a wonderful way to spend a Thursday afternoon, talking books, eating a delicious lunch surrounded by exquisite vintage blooms in the glorious surroundings of Lytham Hall.
Elaine from my favourite bookshop in the entire world SilverDell in Kirkham arranges these civilised events regularly, yesterday we were entertained by Sophie Hannah & Peter Robinson Best Selling Authors of crime fiction.
We arranged posies of vintage roses including David Austin's newest addition Darcey, these little beauties and the huge vase designs towering over the Gold Room were raffled with the proceeds winging there way to Trinity Hospice as I write.
We had an audience form all corners of The Fylde and the world including this lovely lady from America.
The Glamarous Mrs Jeffrey
Elaine welcomed us all and introduced us to the lovely authors Sophie & Peter
After our scrummy Rowley's Catering chicken breast stuffed with basil & sun dried tomatoes with a creamy peppper corn sauce, the authors signed our hard back versions of their latest books, which incidently I can't wait to get my teeth into.
Elaine's lovely Mum
Sophie Hannah was so entertaining, seriously witty and a great orator, she read from her latest novel now available in paper back "The Other Half Lives", we were all seriously impressed with plans in the pipeline for a TV series based on her novels, how very exciting!
Shannon & I sat next to her at lunch and enjoyed her company enormously.
Peter Robinson author of the superb Inspector Banks novels told us of his inspiration behind his latest book a collection of short stories "The Price of Love" he gave us a brilliant insight into the way he writes, what inspires him and the secret of his "over night success" spanning almost three decades.
